I just wrote a huge long post and our stupid internet connection went down again and I lost it all. I'm way too crabby about it to write it again. So just imagine that you know all about my birthday, and how great my new job is, and how hard my husband works and how much I love him. You also know about our plans for Christmas eve and the rest of the holidays, and my dad's 60th birthday.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

Okay Universe, this is it. Everybody, please wish me luck.

Thank you!

Today is our one month wedding anniversary! Trust me, I'm not going to count down every month, but this is the first one so I just wanted to mark it somehow. I love being married, it's absolutely marvelous! Happy one month, husband!

(oh, the cheese! can you even stand it?)

I think I might have to start another one of these in the near future. One that I don't have to worry as much about what I write. It's definitely something to think about, anyway.

On another note, we had friends over for fondue the other night! It was tons of fun, and everything went off without a hitch. There was a small worry to the contrary, due to the fact that none of the four of us had ever done it before. Well, I had when I was small, but didn't have to do any of the set up or anything. But it went fine. My nana supplied the recipes for the dips and batter, and I made a pie for dessert. If the husband and I had been talking that day, it would have been a perfect evening! But we managed just the same, and everything is great with us now. We're fun like that, sporadic silences keep things hopping! ;) (I'm kidding honey, I hate it when we're like that.)

That's it for me. I know it's boring, but it's all I want to write here right now.

Well, we're back! And MARRIED!!! The day was beautiful, and the weather couldn't have been better. Everything went perfectly, at the ceremony and at the reception. It's still sort of a blur for me, it almost feels like a dream. But one look at my finger and I know I was really there. :) And our honeymoon went the same way. No trouble at the border, or the airports. And nothing but perfect, hot days to do whatever we wanted. The resort was beautiful, and our rooms were HUGE! The only thing we would have changed, about the entire thing, was to leave a little more time for visiting. So many people came to share the day with us, a lot from pretty far away, and it would have been so nice to have a little more time to spend with them. So that would be our tip for future brides and grooms: wait a day before you leave on your honeymoon so that you can visit with all the people that love you and came to share your day.

We're married! Both of us keep saying that, over and over, I wonder how long till that part wears off? ;)

2 more sleeps. The day after tomorrow I will be a smug-married!!!!

!

But I won't be smug, just very, VERY happy. :)

Tuesday, September 21, 2004

I was just running through some of the old posts on this site and found this. It's just one of the many reasons I love him so much. :)

Sunday, September 19, 2004

One more week. Just 7 days and quite honestly, I can't wait until it's over. Both of us are just waiting until it's over now. We just want to be married. I think I am starting to look forward to it a little though, it's starting to become a little exciting. Our vows are finished. The photographer list is confirmed. Our attendant gifts are all wrapped and ready. The first dances are chosen. Guests are going to be arriving this week, all the final preparations will be done. Hopefully there will be some time for visiting. And the day itself is looking to be so busy that there won't be anytime at all to worry, about anything. And that means that I might actually enjoy myself. It has been a stressful time, for both of us. But I think that we made it through better suited to tackle life's other struggles. And we're certainly going to enjoy the honeymoon. It will be the first vacation we've taken that's just the two of us. We usually go away to visit my family, and I love those trips very much. But this one will be just for us, and I think he is going to really enjoy it. And there's a bar in the pool!

Chapel music. Must sort that out....

Can you even believe that in less than 3 weeks we're going to be MARRIED!!!! To be honest, I ended up with cool-ish feet a couple of weeks ago. We have confirmed though that I'm not afraid of spending my life with him, it's the actual wedding that has me freaked. It's such a big deal, and there are so many things that still need to get done. I sat down this morning to start a list (note that I said START a list) and ended up with 23 to do items in the first 5 minutes. I had to just put it down and step away from it, or I would have started to panic - again.

I know it will all get done. And no matter what, we'll be married at the end of that day (as long as my ring gets done in time as I still don't have it. My parents should be able to pick it up on the 17/18 and are bringing it down with them). And we love each other. That's the most important thing. We haven't been having a lot of fun these days though, but hopefully tomorrow will change that. We've got tickets to RENT, and I LOVE that show!!! It'll be his first time seeing it (my third) and I'm hoping he loves it as much as I do. And if he doesn't, well we're going out for dinner first and I know he'll like that. And we're not going to talk about the wedding. Hopefully. ;

Sunday, August 22, 2004

I am feeling a bit (a LOT) overwhelmed these days. And I don't function all that well like this. There's just so much to do still, and so many other things to worry about besides the wedding. So. Many.

Sorry, couldn't resist. It's pretty funny, as long as no baby ducks were actually harmed in the taking of these pictures.

Sad news.  I just found out that Tina the elephant died.  It made me cry.  N took me out to see her last year before they moved her to Tennessee, and I don't know why this makes me so sad, but it does.  She was only 34.  Here's what is written on the elephants.com site.

I just threw 10 perfectly good rolls of bathroom tissue (that's what it says on the bag, but it's toilet paper) into the hallway of my building.  Still in the package they came in, and wrapped securely again in a white plastic garbage bag.  Because it had a SPIDER in it.  (I used caps because it was HUGE!)  EWWWW!!!  Now, I know throwing the entire thing out in to the hallway might seem a little  drastic, but it wasn't my first choice.  No.  When I opened the bathroom cupboard, and saw that Massive Spider just sitting in the bag of tp, looking at me, my first thought was the PMoP, the Paper Mitt of Protection.  However, it didn't take me long to figure out that even with my hand (and arm) entirely cased in paper towel, I was still going to have to put my hand through that small opening in the bag, into an enclosed space with that MONSTER.  And more than likely, it was going to run up my arm.  Not.  Going.  To.  Happen.
So.  Then I decided to pull out my old trusty bug sucker upper.  One might think that would be the cat, but she retired about 6 years ago and was actually witnessing my panic from just inside the laundry basket.  And I think she was laughing.  But I hauled out the vacuum cleaner (careful not to make too much noise so as not to alert the enemy to its impending doom, plugged it in and attached the hose, and flippedtheswitchandshovedthehoseinthegeneraldirectionofthebag only to discover that IT HAD STARTED SUCKING THE OUTSIDE OF THE BAG INSTEAD OF THE INSIDE!!!  Now, I can't even see where the f***ing spider is, all I know is that it is still in that bag.  I know this because my stupid stunt with the vacuum sealed the bag shut while it sucked from the outside.  So.  I grabbed a white garbage bag, grabbed the top of the tp bag, and introduced them.  And since I can never find a twist tie in this place, I used an Ikea clip, sealed it up, and threw it out my door into the building's hallway.  I know.  Some neighbour I am, right?  Well the people downstairs are mostly too busy throwing each other around these days to notice, so whatever.  Trust me, it won't be there long.  Part of me thinks that crafty sucker will figure a way out of the bag, so as soon as I've finished this I'll be taking it to the dumpster on my way to Safeway to buy more bathroom tissue.

Seriously.  Spiders are Gross.

On an entirely different note, it's Indy this weekend so it sounds like we're being invaded by bees.

Monday, July 19, 2004

Well, I'm back.  It was a long trip, but wonderful.  I loved every day of it.  The only low point was that N wasn't with me.  He was great about the whole thing though, and I know he had a good time while he was there.

I spent so much time with my nephew that I'm sure he won't forget me this time.  It helps that it won't be too long before I see him again, but I still think I made an impression.  I'm really going to miss him though.  He's growing so fast, and I miss so much of it.  And my brand new niece, she was only 2.5 days old when I left.  My sister was great though, and she let me hold her as much as I could.  I hope it was enough so that she'll have some sense of me.  Maybe it's dumb, but I feel pretty isolated out here these days.  Everyone else is together, and there for the good stuff.  I always feel like I have to be 'super fun' so that they'll remember me when I'm not there.  Ah.  Enough of that.

So, they named her.  Annabel Jayne.  I went shopping for her baby shower today and got 2 adorable outfits!!  I just need to get a card and then send them.

I don't think I mentioned yet that they had a surprise shower for me while I was back.  It was great!  N was in on it, and I had NO idea!  He drove me to Invermere the day that they set everything up.  I even got to have one of those hats made out of all the bows and ribbons from the gifts.  It was so nice.  My sisters put it all together, and it was really nice to see people that I hadn't seen in ages.  I have to say though, that it does feel very weird getting gifts when it's not my birthday or Christmas.  I just felt like I hadn't done anything to deserve it.  But I did get beautiful things.  Spoiled.

What else?  Hmm.  I went to Idaho for an afternoon with my dad.  We went to find this solar power house, they sell solar power stuff and run the whole place off the grid (whatever that means).  It was a very funny drive, and we're lucky that we weren't shot by white supremacists for trespassing when we got some seriously misguided directions.  (They tell me there is lots of them in Idaho.)  We went to the accordion festival in Kimberley, there are pictures on N's site.  Chase decided he wanted to dance among all the other (old) polka dancers, and enlisted his Ba (grandpa) to dance with him.  Soooo funny, but maybe only for me and my sister.

Kay.  I'm rambling.  Must stop typing until I have something to say.

IT'S A GIRL!!!!

She was born tonight at 8:00pm Cranbrook time, 8lbs, 12oz.  And she's perfect!  Mom and Dad are doing great too, and when we left the hospital the whole new family was looking forward to a good sleep.  More tomorrow...
Still no baby, but things are looking good!

Every time I write about my sister's pregnancy, I forget to mention that they have decided to go with a midwife. Apparently, the midwife is covered by BC medical, so it is an alternative option to the obstetrician. I guess they picked this way because it's a more personal service. As I write, the midwife is at their house, waiting until she's ready to go to the hospital. She's 5 cms dilated, and still at home! I have one very brave sister! So I guess when they go to the hospital, it will be the midwife, my sister, and her partner, B, all in the delivery room. And B gets to do the actual delivery himself! He's had lessons the last couple of weeks on how to turn the head, and get the shoulders out, etc. So he'll be delivering their baby! My mom gets to be there too now, as they need someone to take the pictures. B was originally going to do it, but he'll be a little too busy now. My mom thinks that's so fantastic that he gets to do the actual delivery, but N thinks that he might throw up if he had to do it. I think that my sister and B are a little bit earthier than N and I. Just a tad. So I told N not to worry, I think I'll be fine with a doctor doing the delivery. And probably lots of drugs!

Anyway, that's it for the update. Next post should have a baby announcement!!!

Monday, July 12, 2004

Still no baby. Rats! My sister is swollen, and her back is killing her, and she keeps gaining weight. If she doesn't have this baby soon she's going to outweigh N! I took her counter off the blog though, as it's now misleading. And I added a wedding counter. The wonderful girl who created the lilypie baby day counter emailed me last night to let me know about the wedding counter. And now you have it! 2 months and 2 days! Yikes! I really need to get home. And get a job. And figure out a caterer!

Found this at Christine's and couldn't resist. I am not a rock star.

20 Questions to a Better Personality

Wackiness: 52/100
Rationality: 50/100
Constructiveness: 86/100
Leadership: 62/100

You are an SECL--Sober Emotional Constructive Leader. This makes you a politician. You cut deals, you change minds, you make things happen. You would prefer to be liked than respected, but generally people react to you with both. You are very sensitive to criticism, since your entire business is making people happy.

At times your commitment to the happiness of other people can cut into the happiness of you and your loved ones. This is very demanding on those close to you, who may feel neglected. Slowly, you will learn to set your own agenda--including time to yourself.

You are gregarious, friendly, charming and charismatic. You like animals, sports, and beautiful cars. You wear understated gold jewelry and have secret bad habits, like chewing your fingers and fidgeting.

You are very difficult to dislike.

Only 82 days to go!!! Yikes! (till the wedding, not the babies)

Thursday, July 01, 2004

Okay, the gallery is fixed now. I think. So when you log in, the pictures should be on the first page again. Let me know if you have problems with it...

Wednesday, June 30, 2004

Pictures from his birthday are up, just log in using the usual username and password. Also, soon to come are pictures of my surprise bridal shower!!! We're having a little problem with the gallery these days, so after you log in, the June 2004 album is at the bottom of the last page for some reason... Hopefully we'll manage to fix it soon.

Monday, June 21, 2004

Well, I'm here. Actually I've been here since Saturday night. It's just me and the sisters today and tomorrow, and N gets in tomorrow night so he's in time for his birthday. Mom and Dad are away until Thursday. It should be fun though. My prince of a nephew is gorgeous, as usual, and this time he's talking a lot more. He even knows who I am! Well, he calls me yoey, but it's close and sounds very cute. I am quite proud to be his yoey, if the truth is told. So we're working on the invitations today. Getting all the address information together, I'll just have a few touch ups left at the end of this. And we need to cut up the maps today too. My wonderful man stayed up quite late the last 2 nights I was home, making sure they were finished and perfect and I must say that he did a fantastic job! Don't feel sorry for him staying up late though, he did have about 6 weeks to do it, just decided to wait to the last minute. *wink* He's cute like that. :)

That's it for me and the boring updates. At least for now. And there is no baby yet. I still have my fingers crossed that she'll deliver early, since the obstetrician said that her due date should be sometime next week, not July 11. And believe me, she's hoping she will too!

Monday, June 14, 2004

I am so happy that he loves me. And that no one can change it, no matter what. It's good to know that we're a team, even if things get rocky, we have each other. Thanks honey. You're perfect for me! *kiss*

Saturday, June 12, 2004

He bought me this! Seriously. As I write this, right now, I am watching my words appear on all its 17inch flat panel glory!! Can you even believe it?

I am a very lucky girl! Thank you honey, very very much!

Psssssst! Yellow-face!* I did it! I signed up. I used your old nickname, so search for me and then send me something!

*For the rest of you, yellow-face is the name of a friend of mine I haven't seen in real life for about 3 years. So I refer to the colour of the face of a smiley. Just so you know.

Because I have no life, and because I wanted to update with something, I searched for useless facts about the word love. This is what it returned...

The invitations are ordered. Marriage is spelled correctly. Please, please, please let everything else be correct.

113 days to go. I wonder, is 113 an unlucky number?

Monday, May 31, 2004

Because I have nothing to say, and because I hate the wedding still so I can't write about that, I recommend you read this, for no other reason than because she is SO funny and then at least I know I haven't left you with nothing to do.

Monday, May 24, 2004

I'm just testing, it seems that there's been a problem with this page....

Sunday, May 23, 2004

If anyone knows about last night, well then you know I'm trying to distract myself. But, at least some good has come from it. Finally, FINALLY, I've found out what the heck the Orcas are all over the city for. I mean, I know it must have been on the news and everything when they started it, but I missed it. Just saw the first Orca, then one more across town, but now I have the official scoop . At least they decided that calves would be better than adults. Could you imagine? A city filled with life size sculptures of killer whales? Methinks a little too much. Maybe one day I'll run around the city and take pictures of all the ones I can find. Who knows, maybe one day he might...Whatever. I'll take the pictures. I can do it by myself, no problem. :)

Saturday, May 22, 2004

There's new pictures up at his gallery, just login with the usual password.

And I made peanut butter cookies. :)

Friday, May 21, 2004

Not dead. Dinner was very good, and not really too late. He did a very nice spaghetti and a great salad.

Now, no one really comments on this thing, but I'm wondering, is it time to change this layout? Should I pick another template and have a fresh look?

Let me know....

Thursday, May 20, 2004

This might be my last post. I'm afraid that I'm going to die of starvation as he is apparently cooking me dinner tonight, but from what I can see it is still frozen. And he's still on the phone. Talking about a fan. Not the new on-sale fan that I wanted, because he said no, that he'd fix the broken one. He's talking about the broken one, that's now more broken cause he tried to fix it. And not making dinner. So far, I've eaten popcorn, and some chocolate (and yet we wonder why I'm expanding). And I'm still hungry. And I have already consumed all my allowable calories for the day, and still no dinner.

I'M STARVING HONEY!!!!!! GET OFF THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please.

Please read this post with a sense of humour. I am fully aware that I won't die, am capable of cooking for my self, and he's good at fixing things. Honest. *wink*

Monday, May 17, 2004

Well, the re-recording is done. It actually only took 25 minutes, so it wasn't too bad. And there will probably be more of it, so I guess I should just prepare myself. I just take things too personally. Also, had a long talk with my MOH this morning, and that helped too. Now I'm off to the grocery store, but I've emailed a marriage commissioner, and the Chapel for information on the Pastor they have available, so hopefully we'll have someone to marry us confirmed soon.

That's the update...
Good Morning!

Oddly enough, I stayed in bed this morning longer than usual due to this weird sense of dread that I've been feeling this weekend. When I did get up (my cell phone was continually going off as my wonderful HTB had sent me a happy text message), I checked my email and discovered 2 things. First, the caterer I'd found that had good menus and still looked affordable is unable to take our wedding. I think he had misunderstood in the first place, as I was just wanting a quote at this time, but still, he's too busy and won't be able to do it. Rats. Second, I had an email regarding the 17 pages of files I'd recorded on Thursday, and there's a bunch of those I need to do over due to distortion. I knew there would be some changes I'd need to do, but for some reason it just made me feel bad this morning. I guess at least I've got work to do.

I really need to get in the shower and start this morning over. I'm going to make roast beef for dinner tonight, and I'm quite looking forward to preparing it. I'm going to try something a little different this time, and we're having company so I hope it works.

I want to be working. I'm sure that I'll have better things to write about then, not just the wedding and what we're going to have for dinner.

There's a few more things I'd like to get done today as well, not the least of which are the invitations (ordered, do I dare wish for this?) and contacting someone to marry us. At least once those are done we will definitely be married at the end of that day, and there will be people there to share it with us. They may have to eat crackers afterwards, but...

We'll figure something out.

Thursday, May 13, 2004

Have I mentioned that I'm recording 17 pages of voice prompts for a calling card service in Hong Kong? And oddly enough, after working on it for the last 2 and a half hours, guess what hurts? If you guessed my throat, you're wrong. Your guess is incorrect (Slow Voicemail language). No, my wrist is KILLING me. The little ball-y boney thing, right at the base of my wrist. It's even all red, so just in case I didn't notice the pain, I have a visual alert. Somehow I don't think that this chair is aligned properly with my keyboard and mouse tray. So that boney thing rests on(pushes into)it the entire time I'm using the mouse. And it HURTS!!!

Enough. I'm done whining now. Um. Does anyone know how to spell whining?

138 days until the wedding! And it feels like we have NOTHING done yet!

Oh no.

Monday, May 10, 2004

I can't tell if it's the new pill I'm taking, or the fact that our house guests have no interest in spending any time with us, but for whatever reason I have the blues. Or should I say I'm expecting the blues? I can feel them coming on strong, but have yet to let any of the ridiculous tears through. I hate that this happens to me. And I hate even more that I always have to worry about whether it's depression coming back, or see if I can find something in my environment that triggered it, or if I've tried a new food, or pill, or whatever. It never is as simple as "I feel blue" anymore, and that's all I want it to be. But I learned the hard way what happens when I ignore stuff, and just pretend it's regular blues. And I don't want to be there again either.

I wish I just didn't care so much. I'm pretty sure this is just hurt feelings about the house guests, but since I have started a new b/c pill, well, there's really no way to be sure. I just have to monitor it and see what happens.

Bleh. :(

Very quick update...

I'm at mom and dad's.
I got here on Monday.
My nephew is gorgeous and very smart.
I can't be called 'Auntie' because he thinks that's my sister's name as he hardly sees me at all, and we look very similar so when there is two of us it is very confusing for an 18 month old.
That made me pretty sad, but I'll get over it.
I had my hair highlighted and cut last night.
My sister bought a minivan, and picked it up today. It's great, she loves it, and it's going to be so perfect for her family. My nephew thinks it's pretty great too!
I had my wedding dress fitted for it's bustle today, and that went well. Must lose a few more pounds.
My baby sister's house looks beautiful. They've been painting in preparation for the new baby, and are doing a fantastic job.
I miss N.

That's the update. I might make it prettier later, but for now this is as good as it gets.

La la la lalala la la.

Tuesday, April 20, 2004

My sister ditched me.

But my mom is still coming tomorrow, and it'll be nice to have her all to myself for a few days. :) I'm really looking forward to it!

I'm feeling very anxious and uneasy, and I don't know why. I definitely don't like it though. I hate it when this happens.

I've been thinking a lot these past few days, about life, and different stages, and how we move through them, not always taking everything that was important with us. When I think about my wedding, and my friends that will be there, I'm amazed at how many of the important people throughout my life that won't be. And it's weird, because I don't need them to be there, I actually wouldn't even know what to say to some of them anymore, but looking back, I couldn't have got here without them. Isn't it a little strange how a friendship that almost held you together can somehow end up being just 'someone I knew when'? N will never even meet some of the people that changed my life. I guess I'm dwelling on some strange things lately. I'm learning that my life is really changing. For the better, of course, but I'm never going to have 'those times' again. Even tonight, it caught me off guard when a sad song started playing on TV. My mind started to react the way it would in the old days, trying to connect the song with some sad part of my life, and I realized that it's unlikely that I'll ever have those reactions again. There is just no 'sad part' of my life. And it's dumb, because it's a good thing, but something inside of me is going to miss that. Those late nights, staying awake listening to off-yourself music, crying and drinking too much wine. Those broken hearted tear stained nights. I'm never going to have anymore. And even though I'm happier than I ever have been, it's still sort of sad knowing that they're be gone forever. Not that I think we won't have our problems, and I won't have my share of tears. I just don't think I'll be identifying with any brokenhearted love songs anytime soon.

Weird. Maybe it's the rain. Or something like that.
If only my sister would just make up her mind. She's either coming, or she isn't. It's really that simple.

It's me again. I know, 2 days in a row, you must think I have something wonderful to say! I don't. I just am trying to be so very quiet in the mornings right now that there's not that much to do. I'm very pleased about my sister's baby counter. It actually seems to be working. Now let's just hope it stays in the right spot.

N is working some terrible shifts right now. This week is the worst. He actually starts at 10pm, but goes in at 8pm to make sure everything is ready. Then he doesn't get home until after 5.30am! I try and make sure he sleeps until at least 2, but yesterday I managed to be so quiet that he slept until after 4! Next week he works 5pm until 1am, which seems better but I know my N and that means that he'll still be awake enough to put in extra hours to make sure every thing is done perfectly. He also worked the entire Easter weekend, one night from 10am until 5.30am the next morning. Crazy perfectionist. The reason for all the weird hours is that the office is moving, finally, to a decent building. One that's new! It's closer to the apartment, and on the 2nd floor instead of the 14th. You might think that isn't a good trade as you don't get much of a view on the second floor, but if you've ever waited for elevators in an old busy office building you'd totally understand. He's moving from here, to here. Trust me, I know the website for Harbour Centre looks good , but really, the offices themselves do not.

I'm considering having my resume done professionally, again. I had it done before I actually left my old job, but I don't think she did that great a job. And I've tried to revamp it myself, but still am not getting the response I should be. It has to be the reason that I haven't had many replies, because I have applied for a TON of jobs, but I never hear from any of them. And I know that I am an asset to any company I work for. So, it just seems like it's time to try another tactic. I'm looking at a company in the states right now, as I did the local search before, and it turned up the person I originally chose. If anyone has any suggestions, or other tips, please feel free to comment.

170 days until September 26, 2004. (!)
Don't you wish you were here?

Monday, April 05, 2004

Oh yah! I forgot about the new dog! We went out to his mom's last weekend, to look around for the wedding, and we got to meet Toby, the new puppy! He is SO cute, and so full of love, I think that he's a great addition to the family.

Puppies make me happy!
I think I was going to write about Easter. And how, for some reason, it is usually a very hard time of the year for me. It has been the time during the year where I am usually at my lowest, and I always anticipate it with caution. However, when I sat down to write about it, I promptly forgot (see below), which must be a good sign. And when I remembered, I read the archives from last April and discovered that it was a pretty good month for me overall. So now, I'm looking forward with a big huge smile on my face! Seriously. Huge. I think I might even make a ham for Easter dinner, and colour eggs again. N and I have done it the last 2 years in a row now, and it's fun. We make ugly eggs, but if we keep practicing...
It's April. And absolutely beautiful. And soon I will be working again! How's that for wishful positive thinking?! In other news, well...There's not a lot of other news. No more nightmares, but N and I are better again too, and that always makes a huge difference.

Argh. I thought I had stuff to say. My brain is blank. I might be back later...

Tuesday, March 30, 2004

Well, I woke up this morning at 4am with VERY BAD nightmares. I can't remember much about them now, but I couldn't go back to sleep, at all. Couldn't even lay there in the dark. So I was up at 4, and read until 9 when I had to get up for a doctor's appointment. Now I am very tired, with a headache, and am really nervous about going to sleep tonight in case they come back. Rats! I HATE it when this happens. Mostly because by being nervous, I keep myself too agitated to sleep properly, and it can go for days. I guess I'll try warm milk, and just hope for the best.

182 days to go!

Wednesday, March 17, 2004

Try this. It's very hard, and we both had to search for other ways to find hints to help us. You need to get out of the room. That's all, just find your way out of the room.

I like it though, it's fun! Good luck!

Monday, March 08, 2004

Things are coming together slowly! We have a best man, maid of honour, bridesmaids, and hopefully groomsmen soon. We're narrowing in on a location, possible flower choice...maybe. But we're not fighting about it, and that's the most important thing.

Now, I need a job.

:)

(Received via email this morning, from one of my girlfriends.)

I sat on the porch overlooking a beautiful mountain lake on a summer day, enjoying a glass of wine with my Mom. Older than me, mother of four, experienced and wise. "Get yourself some girlfriends," she advised, swirling the wine in her glass.

"You are going to need girlfriends. Go places with them, do things with them.

"What a funny piece of advice, I thought. Hadn't I just gotten married? Hadn't I just joined the couple-world? I was a married woman, for goodness sake, not a young girl who needed girlfriends. Nevertheless, I listened to my Mom and I got back in touch with my old girlfriends of years long gone.

As the years tumbled by, one after another, gradually I came to understand that Mom knew what she was talking about.

Here is what I know about them:

Girlfriends bring casseroles and scrub your bathroom when you are sick.
Girlfriends keep your children and keep your secrets.
Girlfriends give advice when you ask for it. Sometimes you take it, sometimes you don't.
Girlfriends don't always tell you that you're right, but they're usually honest.
Girlfriends still love you, even when they don't agree with your choices.
Girlfriends might send you a birthday card, but they might not. It does not matter in the least.
Girlfriends laugh with you, and you don't need canned jokes to start the laughter.
Girlfriends pull you out of jams.
Girlfriends don't keep a calendar that lets them know who hosted the other last.
Girlfriends will give a party for your son or daughter when they get married or have a baby, in whichever order that comes!
Moreover, girlfriends are there for you, in an instant and truly, when the hard times come.
Girlfriends listen when you lose a job or a husband.
Girlfriends listen when your children break your heart.
Girlfriends listen when your parent's minds and bodies fail.

My girlfriends bless my life. Once we were young, with no idea of the incredible joys or the incredible sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.

Tuesday, March 02, 2004

I need to find something else to think about for a while. At least until I start sleeping again. And it's not like I'm stressed, because I'm not. I just spend my days either looking for a job, or researching things for the wedding. And then at night, my brain keeps doing it, long after I've walked away from the computer. So, the goal for this week is this: Apply for the 2 positions I've been working on, tomorrow. Then arrange a viewing at a reception/ceremony site that looks promising. After that viewing has taken place, I'm not going to do anything else related to the wedding, at least until the end of the weekend! I'll still look for jobs everyday, but that on its own isn't bad and doesn't keep me up at night. So, now you know, keep your fingers crossed for the jobs, and let me know if you have any horror stories regarding reception sites.

Bye for now! :)

Hmm. Apparently, the rotten site I posted below is out of bandwidth. So no one but me knows how funny it is. Oh well, if you care to, you can always keep checking it to see if they sorted out the problem.

***Just so you know, I did check the link from the last post thoroughly, and my dress is NOT on that site!***
Okay, I'm back. Not that I have anything interesting to say, but back nonetheless. I have discovered that having a job helps you remain interesting and current. Therefore, if you do the math, that's my excuse. But soon, *crosses fingers*, soon I too will be working again. Right honey? Just continue to think positive.

I have my dress!!! Can you even believe it? Just a short 90 minutes! after the start of our search my mom and I were leaving the store with my dress!!! And what a deal! THANKS MOM!!! I LOVE YOU!!! It's beautiful, and that's really all I can say (he still reads this sometimes, honest). And I have bridesmaids. And we have the date set. So. Things are coming together, right? Ha! It feels like we've got nothing done so far, but really, all we actually need to get married is us, and love. So technically we're covered.

I found this website in my endless quest for a picture of my dress. If you're wondering why I want a picture of it, it's because 2 days after it became mine, it left for Cranbrook in order to avoid the cat and the boy. Fur from the cat, eyes of the boy. So it's not here. I can't look at it. I can't show it to anyone. And if I keep looking at the hundreds of pictures I'm searching through, I'm sure I'll completely forget what it looks like. But I digress. Back to the website that I found. It's very funny, just browse through the archives a little and I'm sure you'll see what I mean. Here's the link to....(drum roll please) Ugly Wedding Dress Of the Day! Seriously amusing. Honest.

In honour of the upcoming holiday, I thought I'd post this again! Hope you like it as much as I do!

Monday, February 09, 2004

If anyone has any wedding stories, traditions or superstitions that they'd like to share, I'd really like to hear them. I'm trying to incorporate both of our heritages (is that a word?) into our wedding, and I wouldn't mind suggestions. Also, any tips on things to watch out for/be careful about. You know, all that helpful stuff, even if it's something you heard from a friend of a cousin of a friend.

Thanks!

Got this from Christine:

You are 18% geek
OK, so maybe you ain't a geek. You do, at least, show a bit of interest in the world around you. Either that, or you have enough of a sense of humor to pick some of the sillier answers on the test. Regardless, you're probably a pretty nifty, well-rounded person who gets along fine with people and can chat with just about anyone without fear of looking stupid or foolish or overly concerned with minutiae. God, I hate you.

My sister sent me this. I don't know who wrote it, but I do know that it's true.

Too many people put off something that brings them joy just because they haven't thought about it, don't have it on their schedule, didn't know it was coming or are too rigid to depart from their routine. I got to thinking one day about all those women on the Titanic who passed up dessert at dinner that fateful night in an effort to cut back. From then on, I've tried to be a little more flexible. How many women out there will eat at home because their husband didn't suggest going out to dinner until after something had been thawed? Does the word "refrigeration" mean nothing to you? How often have your kids dropped in to talk and sat in silence while you watched Jeopardy' on television? I cannot count the times I called my sister and said, "How about going to lunch in a half hour?" She would gas up and stammer, "I can't. I have clothes on the line. My hair is dirty. I wish I had known yesterday, I had a late breakfast, It looks like rain." And my personal favorite: "It's Monday." ...She died a few years ago. We never did have lunch together.
Because we cram so much into our lives, we tend to schedule our headaches.. We live on a sparse diet of promises we make to ourselves when all the conditions are perfect! "We'll go back and visit the grandparents when we get Stevie toilet-trained. We'll entertain when we replace the living-room carpet. We'll go on a second honeymoon when we get two more kids out of college." Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter, and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. One morning, we awaken, and all we have to show for our lives is a litany of "I'm going to," "I plan on," and "Someday, when things are settled down a bit." When anyone calls my 'seize the moment' friend, she is open to adventure and available for trips. She keeps an open mind on new ideas. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious. You talk with her for five minutes, and you're ready to trade your bad feet for a pair of Rollerblades and skip an elevator for a bungee cord. My lips have not touched ice cream in 10 years. I love ice cream. It's just that I might as well apply it directly to my stomach with a spatula and eliminate the digestive process. The other day, I stopped the car and bought a triple-decker. If my car had hit an iceberg on the way home, I would have died happy. Now...go on and have a nice day. Do something you WANT to.....not something on your SHOULD DO list. If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?
