Sometimes when I'm stuck for something to write, I think I'll just pass on things that people pass to me. This is one of my favourites, and it's the reason I bought my mother a purple hat one or two Mother's Days ago. I hope you like it too.

Grab your purple hat!!!

A woman looks in the mirror…

Age 3: Looks at herself and sees a Queen!

Age 8: Looks at herself and sees herself as Cinderella/Sleeping Beauty.

Age 15: Looks at herself and sees herself as Cinderella/Sleeping Beauty/Cheerleader or if she is PMS'ing: sees Fat/Pimples/UGLY ("Mom I can't go to school looking like this!")

Age 20: Looks at herself and sees "too fat/too thin, too short/too tall, too straight/too curly" - but decides she's going anyway.

Age 30: Looks at herself and sees "too fat/too thin, too short/too tall, too straight/too curly" - but decides she doesn't have time to fix it so she's going anyway.

Age 40: Looks at herself and sees "too fat/too thin, too short/too tall, too straight/too curly" - but says, "At least, I'm clean" and goes anyway.

Age 50: Looks at herself and sees "I am" and goes wherever she wants to go.

Age 60: Looks at herself and reminds herself of all the people who can't even see themselves in the mirror anymore. Goes out and conquers the world.

Age 70: Looks at herself & sees wisdom, laughter and ability, goes out and enjoys life.

Age 80: Doesn't bother to look. Just puts on a purple hat and goes out to have fun with the world!

We should all grab that purple hat a little earlier!

This came in my mail on Friday. It's something I need to remember.

"Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy."
Guillaume Apollinaire

And on that note, I'm off to enjoy the day. I hope you all do the same. :)

Well, if you read my last post, and happened to read his as well, then you probably know there was some tension in this house early in the week. I can tell you that there have been a lot of emotions lately, surrounding a lot of different issues, but we're still here and are both committed to keep at it. It's funny, sometimes it's so good I can't even remember what our differences are. I'm going to try not to remember all day today. :)

He's working all weekend, so I'm on my own today. At some point I have to do laundry. Speaking of laundry, we had our couch covers dry-cleaned. I picked them up yesterday and it looks perfect again. Lots of feathers flying around though as I put it all back together. Anyone with allergies would have HATED me if they were here. Can this get any more boring?

We watched Schindler's List last night. Or rather, he did. I have a really hard time dealing with that kind of monstrous cruelty and I had to stop watching or I would have thrown up. That's twice now that I haven't been able to watch that movie. He watched the entire thing though, and said that it was really good. So I'm happy about that. It was something we'd said we were going to do last week, and it got done.

Since this is so terribly boring, I'm going to do us all a favour and stop writing. If I think of anything interesting I'll be back, but for now I'm off to Rodney Yee and his VERY painful abs yoga. Ugh.

Just in case anyone was wondering, the dishes are done. And have been every night since Tuesday. And it's not because of my rant, as you could probably tell by his reaction, it's because he's trying, really trying, not to put stuff off anymore. I love him very much! :)

Just in case it looks a little freaky, today's post was too long, so I had to post it in two sections, three if you count this one. Just ignore the time stamp and comments bit, and keep reading. (cont'd)
Grrr. I hate procrastinators. I really really do. Maybe it's because it was a problem of mine in the past, but I honestly can't think of anyone who really likes procrastinators, even if they never were one.

So, I'm guessing you've figured out this post is about someone procrastinating. Again. And this time he's sick, so I can't even talk to him about it. But that's not the reason the dishes aren't done. Because they are dishes from Sunday, up to and including this morning, and he wasn't sick then. So now I've done the stupid dishes, I'm pissed because I had to do them, I had to do them because I can't stand to live in a pigsty, and I'm rolling more and more things into the reason that I'm mad. Like the fact that when he moved in we made a deal that he would do the dishes, and I would do the laundry. And he did them, faithfully, apparently just long enough to be sure that we'd stay together. Because since then I can't even count the number of times I've heard "I'm going to do them right now", every day until finally I look like I might actually get mad about it soon. He's started to say it about a lot of things these days. "I'm going to shave today, I'm going to do the dishes before we watch that, I'm going to do whatever it was I told you I'd do just as soon as I...." And days go by. Each one with the same statements. Argh. I don't know what to do about it. He says (when he's mad at me) that I treat him like a child. Well, it just so happens that teenagers seem to need a lot of the same coaxing to get stuff done as he does. Is that my fault? (cont'd)
But he's sick today, and he never gets sick, so I'm stuck with this 'mad' feeling and no where to vent. So I'm using this blog, my apologies to anyone related to him. I love him, I really do, but today just feels like a big huge sign that says "HE'S ONLY GOING TO DO IT IF YOU ASK HIM, EVER" and I just don't think I should always have to ask. If there is crap on the floor, clean it up. If the rug needs vacuuming, vacuum it. If the bathroom needs cleaning, clean it. And the worst part is, it's me that it bugs. Which means I have to do it. Because if it doesn't bother him, why should he have to do it? I can honestly say that if I didn't care if the kitchen was clean, I would have left the dishes too. But I care. I live here. And I'm proud of this place. Grrr. This is no win.

But, just so you know, when he does clean the kitchen he's better at it than I am. It looks incredible when he's done.

I guess I have to finish now, because it feels like I'm picking on him and since he's sick he has no way to defend himself. And I should go check and see if he wants some herbal tea for his throat. Can't live with him, can't live without him. :s

I would really love it if everyone who reads this could post his or her thoughts about marriage in the comments.

I'm serious. What it means to you, are you married, if so why, if not why. How you think it's changed your life/could change your life. That sort of thing. I'm trying to sort out how I feel about it, why it's important to me. And I think that we all grow up subjected to so many different views and perspectives, I'm just really curious about how other people feel and think about it.

Humour me, please?

Wanna know something funny? My feet are cold. Like literally freezing!!

Good morning! It's Saturday, and I have been waiting for this ALL week! I should have gone out on the seawall this morning, but I didn't. I just REALLY wanted to get a decent amount of sleep, finally. And Mom and Dad and Faff (my grandma) are coming into town today, staying here, and I am supposed to be cleaning and I'm not. I'm working up to it by writing it down; hopefully it'll scare me into starting.

We hung the frames in the bedroom last night. These are the frames we bought at the beginning of March, I think. We were in such a hurry to finish the bedroom, we needed all the stuff "NOW", and then once we had it, and the bed back in there, the rest has just sort of 'waited'. But it's really done now. Well, except for the frames don't actually have pictures in them yet. They're just up there, along the back of the bed, with white inside. But they're up, and that's something. We discovered that, while we've known since we first met that we work great together as a team, it seems that if we're both tired, and both crabby, the team thing is better off going out the window. Everything went WAY faster once I left the room and only came in when he needed to make sure something was even. Hee Hee.

I better go. I have to clean the bathroom and have a shower. Vacuum. And then run out and get a battery and film for this fun little camera that I'm giving my Faff when she gets here. It's sooo easy to use; I think she'll have a lot of fun with it. And it looks cool; I know she'll like that! ;)
