Day...whatever day this is. ;)

We went to Lethbridge to see my sister the day before yesterday. We had big plans, we were going to drive up through Banff, then down through the Kananaskas and then to Lethbridge. It was definately a long way to go, but the drive would have been beautiful. However, due to new fires, the highway from Radium to Banff was closed, and that's the road I REALLY wanted him to see. So we decided to go straight from here to Lethbridge, and possibly go to Banff on the way back.

We were going to leave at 8:30am, get a really early start and have lots of visiting time as Lethbridge is only 3.5 hours from here. But on Monday, he discovered one of our front tires was ready to blow, and it wasn't safe to drive on it. As Monday was a holiday, we had to wait till Tuesday morning before he could do anything about it. It took him a couple of hours, but after checking all 5 tire places we still didn't want to spend that money. Not for tires that he didn't really want. They were all so much money, even the cheap ones. And then he did his thing. That wonderful thing that he can do when he has to make something work. He decided to look up the auto wreckers, and after locating one of them, down he went and managed to get 2 tires (even the right size for the car, BIG) for $75 total!! And then he had them installed and balanced and we were off! We still got out of town by noon.

We had to drive through the fire in the Crowsnest to get there, and it's pretty scary watching a fire burn that close. N got some of it on video. And then we had to pull over as we were caught in the most torrential rain I've seen in a long time! We could hardly see the road. But we ended up arriving just before 4:00pm. Lethbridge was very nice. It was good to see my sister, and her son is still the cutest baby I know. :) They live in a really nice duplex, you'd never even know it was a duplex unless you looked very hard. It was neat.

Tired of writing. I might add to this later...
